Facebook is great platform for having a social network. It is so far the best plat form out there which enables people to share information easliy. when people are living in a global connected world. Facebook platform becomes an important tool for people to share information at a speed of light. I use Facebook almost every day to know what my friends are doing in different parts of the world and it also helps me to do effective communication with all of them instantly.

If life were to be so simple then nobody would have compalined about the Facebook. But i see totally different social structure in real world.you might have friends who you know them in student life, work, college and also through another friend and since then you might have never met. Now suddenly you are connected through Facebook and can instantly interact.

In your mind you have the same old picture and memories of that person. but because the time has past by, he might have a changed a lot.He might NOT be the same old buddy who used to chat and share all the information as earlier. For some reason if you do not know this, Facebook can be evil and can create more harm than good.

Like wise there are various things in Facebook where people sometime put a funny photo/video/comment and expect no witty answers on them. As we know the word "funny" is a relative term and varies from person to person. It would get misunderstood more often than otherwise. And things get worse when people are interacting from two different parts of world and that too in different time zones.

How should one handle this and what caution one needs to take so that you are socially responsible in the social networking platform.

1. Do not comment on anything/anyone unless you meet that person on day to day basis. Things can be sorted out very quickly when you meet him very next day.

2. In case you comment on somebody or some picture/video and if you do not see any response even after 24 hours just go ahead and remove your comment immediately. This way you will be telling the other person that your comments was unintentional.

3. if you are in a habit of commenting then unsubscribe those people who do not want your comments. This way you can stay away from commenting on such people. (I hope Facebook provides a feature where you can get a stream with no comments option). if required if you can always go to their profile anytime time and see what they are doing and also send messages.

4.Sometime if you feel like commenting but do not want to comment because of the above issues. Just hit the like button.

5. Even though Facebook is designed to stay in touch with all of your friends, in real life things do not work that way. Facebook servers as a better tool to interact with friends near you and acts as a address book/email system/news feed for distant friends.

Are you sick and tried of people who compare the skills of talented people in arts, science, technology, sports etc of different generations.It is like comparing apples and oranges. if you read the comparison it is always biased and the winner will be of current generation if the reviewer is much younger and vice verse if the reviewer is older.In my mind i think it is totally unfair to compare anybody irrespective of field and generation.unless the people you are comparing are contemporary people and playing field for both of them is exactly the same.

when people compare Sachin Tendular to Don Bradman, i think of that reviewer to be nuts. Because it is impossible to come to concrete conclusion who is the better player. And when you look at the Sachin with his contemporary players.some people still have doubts about he being greatest versus others. if that is the case how can you compare somebody from totally different generation. There will always be so many parameters and attributes which would contribute in favor of these players for that particular generation. So there fore it is impossible to compare anybody of any skill. Unfortunately people still compare and always come out with a biased conclusions.

Talking about movies, there are different actors and actress of different generation who have acted in different stories and under different conditions and people. But people still compare here too. it is literally comparing Apples to wood or glass.
when people compare SRK with Amitabh. i do not see any logic. both of them are from different generation and younger generation no matter what like SRK and older people relate the same to Amitabh. And things gets interesting when SRK does the copy of the same movie of Amitabh with better visual and sound effect. which make the reviewer to be biased because he is morphed with the other parameters and attributes. which never existed during Amitabh days.

Same things do emerge when we compare scientists, politicians , artists etc. so it is good not to compare thing which do not have same level playing fields. Other wise you will get a biased opinion.

I see all these comparing people is more to increase the commercial values of a particular person and for marketing purpose. If you release a article about Sachin tendular that he is the greatest cricketer ever just before the Australian series. marketing people think that they could get more commercial and thus more viewership. And same is true when SRK is declared as the best actor ever when his new movie Don 2 gets released across the world.

Bottom line is these reviews are not well thought and it is always biased and intended for commerical purpose. So therefore one should always keep in mind when quoting these reviews as reference points for any kind of conclusion.

Quest for intelligence

Forunknown reason I always look for people who are intelligent and try to analyzetheir activities, behavior, patterns etc. Basically I feel by doing this I couldadopt or learn something from them and improve myself. Unfortunately I have notachieved much success. But I continue to do so and also found that it is verydifficult to gain momentum if you had lost the speed in initial days. But neverleft the hope, I am still trying to get there and improve.

When I was growing up in school days there were lots of mythswhich people thought to be true. Some of the myths which I would like tomention are,

1. Eatingnon-vegetarian food make students dumb.

This a mythbecause most of the inventions and discoveries are done by the westernsocieties. Many vegetarians from India who have immigrated to the westerncountries have directly or indirectly consumed Non – vegetarian food.

Bottom line - Nomatter what you eat the brain functions as it should. Provide energy andextract the knowledge.

2. Peoplewho have more money do NOT have intelligence and vice versa.

There is a somekind of proverb(saying) in many Indian languages which basically says thatintelligence do Not stay with people with money. On the contrary if you lookinto the present progressing India. Lots of intelligent people in India havemade enough money. People who have immigrated to US as doctors have got all theluxuries and also very intelligent people.

3. OnlyUpper cast people can be intelligent. No other people can match them.

Some people in Indiabelieve that only upper caste can be intelligent others cannot get there. This istotal misconception among certain people and their is a certain system built whichfacilitates the upper cast people to excel well. Same is also true whenyou see Jews excelling very well in US. All it takes it the proper guidance andexposure to the children to excel well. And more important thing is theconfidence in oneself to achieve the impossible. The same is also true whencertain section of people India in who do the business and people think that only theycan become businessmen. But in reality it is the network and exposure whichmake the person to excel well in that particular field.

4. Interactingwith Boys/Girls, watching movies, Playing games makes a person dull.

Many parents inIndia want to keep their kids away from the Boys/Girls, Movies, Games because theythink it would distract their kid and would affect his/her scores. This is soabsurd when compared to western societies. Some of sharp kids havegirlfriends/boyfriends. They will watch movies, play games and also do well inexams. And reality is the balancing the study and enjoyment of once personaltime.

As of now I could only come up with four myths. Of coursethere are many more.

Fundamental aspect of one’s intelligence comes from thefollowing parameters

1. Discipline– one has to be disciplined to gain any kind of knowledge which would turn intointelligence

2. Persistence– Failure is part of life. People fail and succeed. Bottom line is not to giveup. Keep it going until you achieve success and more success

3. Network– one must have a proper network of people who motivate and provide ideas toimprove. Avoid people who keepdiscouraging and de-motivate you.

4. Guidance– Making key decision in one’s life is important. One wrong path in life mightchange career of a individual. It is important to look for proper guidance andfollow them religiously.

5. Options– one’s career might be with lots of ups and downs. It is important haveoptions open at any given time. Too much options sometime hinder the successrate.

6. Ofcourse there can be many more to this list.

Workshop

Picture a scene of workshop lab , final examination of 2nd semester electronics students. Approximately 15 boys and girls are in the lab in a tensed atmosphere. you have a internal and external faculty monitoring the exam. Internal faculty seems to be missing just after 15 minutes of start of the exam. A simple diagram of male and female piece of metal is written where the students need to cut the iron metal exactly as written on the board. Plus there will be soldering exam in another workshop facility.

Metal pieces are given to the students and every body take their places and start cutting the hard metal with their Axel blades. while i am busy cutting the metal i get distracted by a girl who is exactly opposite to me , she seems to be doing something different. when i look closely she is indeed trying to gain attention of the external faculty by putting hair from right to left and left to right and smiling towards external faculty. I did not dare to see the faculty who was right behind me. I just focused on the the lab exam and continued to cut the metal.
The same was noticed by many people at the lab. I felt disgusted towards her and thought for a second, to what extent people go to gain advantage?.

In between while cutting the metal we were called in batches to do soldering, when i wore the glasses to solder, i could not see anything but with all the guess work i just managed to solder the metal pieces and returned to my desk to continue cutting the metal. I do not why i took more time to cut the first metal. I had already taken 3/4th of the time to cut the first metal piece and same was the condition of many other students. i managed to cut the 2nd metal piece in a hurry and got hold of the only hammer which was available in the lab and i managed to cut the metal with 50% accuracy and i had to file a lot to make it perfect.

My other close friend and topper of first semester was literally lagging behind and he managed to get the hammer from me towards the end and he hit the metal piece with all the force he had and broke it into 2 pieces. I did not witness that. but learnt after the examination. The problem of having very limited resource in the lab made my friend take drastic step of breaking the whole metal piece.I was lucky not to break it but mine was also not that great finished product.

Finally in the via-voice exam, i managed to answer few question. As we all know faculties ask most difficult question during this via-voice questioning. Very few students manage to impress the faculty by answering all the questions.

Once the exam was over we all returned with disappointment and fear. when the results were declared in the 3rd semester. it was a huge disappointment.
Guess what the girl who was smiling all the way to the external faculty had topped the lab exam. My friend who had scored 90% in all the subjects had failed the exam. I just managed to scrap through with passing marks.
From then on things changed in all our lives and had a significant impact on ones thinking.

That girl realized that she had a sexual advantage over others and she utilized to maximum and went on to score more and more marks in every lab exam.
My friend who was very aggressive in studies and also the topper of earlier semester had become more defensive. I could see, more cautious approach and contentment in him than having a aggressive approach. Due to this he did not become topper again.
And i promised myself not to get distracted with these kind of cheap people's tricks and focused on individual lab work and it did really helped me in all my future lab exams.

Anna

A man wakes up early morning, walks towards the big hall to see somebody holding for him with his choice of drink. Next one more person hands him his choice of morning news paper and Television is turned on with just a small jester of eyes or hands. He finishes his reading and goes to bath room to get ready, once he is out from the bath room, all his clothes to wear are ready, break fast is ready on the table , somebody is standing with the tablets to take.
By the time he completes his breakfast there are already few guests/people waiting for him with there questions, solutions and advice. He talk with them and go out with his luxury modeled SUV which has all the facilities in it. He travels to the party office or to the government ministry office.

There too he finds people and more people just waiting for his approval for certain things.
It could be laying roads in one corner of the city or could be providing water supply to a village. His approval and only his would make things move forward else everything will be at stand still. This person will have servants after servants to hold something , to carry something.To take him somewhere and many more.Mere gesture will make people come running behind him.

This blog will not have an end if i keep listing all the things which people do to this person during the course of the day.He fears nobody, he is never short of anything, he get everything and anything at any time.He hates failure and will never ever like defeat or challenges posed by somebody at the lower level. He fights with very few competitors who enjoys similar life style. He is leading this kind of life style from birth of could be from very young age.

Guess what ? who is this person. He is our Indian Politician or a Indian bureaucrat. They are leading the life like kings. They literally control 100 million people’s lives.

Imagine if this person is challenged in public what could go through him. He will not at all tolerate this and would nail that person to ground in seconds. But this did not happen to our Social activist Ann Hazare. why did you think, this is because of people’s support and from more people support. Had he not got this over whelming support from people he would have seen his life end by fasting.
Timing of Ann Hazare was so right that he got the people support and also the media coverage.He and his team could learn from Baba Ramdev’s mistake and have a counter strategy against that. Government officials were at back foot and running out of ideas. They tried all they could do but finally had to compromise without giving away much ground.

Anna Hazare knows he has not yet got it yet.And he is ensuring that he is keeping up the pressure on the government till the final goal is achieved. I wish Anna good luck for the good cause he has taken up.

Room mates

Most difficult part of life is sharing something when you prefer to have all by yourself. One such thing is the house/Room. Since i studied all the school and colleges in same place where i was brought up i never experienced the hostel/dorm life. It gets hard if you happen to stay with somebody else when you have never experienced earlier.

My first room mate was Nandu, i happened to share my room with him in Germany. we had very good time. Because we both were of same age and same place our frequencies matched and we enjoyed each other’s company. we roamed around together to many place. But there are few things which you might not like about a person but it was not that much a problem to both of us. He was very lazy and took his own time to do things. Most of the time it caused delays in our planning. And for him i was always in a hurry!!.

Second room mate was Sidda. Sidda was unique in character, he did not gel with me initial few days. we had issues, but we sorted it all towards the end. And we are very good buddies now.
Sidda used to keep the A.C temperature so low in nights. I had to get up in the night and either switch off the A.C or bring the temperature back to normal. I was always surprised why he likes to keep the temperature so freezing cold when he hails from one of the hottest place from India. As most of people he was Little conservative in spending, so he hardly accompanied me to any place. At times when i went with him, we ended up fighting for some or other issue. So i had to avoid going out with him. But towards the end we were best buddies and we both have forgotten old issues.

Anand was my third room mate. I would like to thank the internet blogging because i can write anything about anybody over here without bias. I say this because he was irritatingly vocal and used to comment on other people and many other things on purpose. He was deliberate , manipulative and purpose full most of the time. He used to remember many things in office elevators, food center and specifically when other people are around him and he used to say it as loud as he can so that others here it. I could never stand this kind of behaviour, but due to my obvious financial constraints i had to stand him.Few things which he used to say were
“I read lots of books”, Even though he had one full draw set of book, i never saw him reading one book. he used to praise himself that he is the best photographer ever and also had a very expensive camera, but i did not see him taking any good quality photographs. Very few were worth mentioning.That too after modifying them with photoshop. He also claimed that he was the saviour of many people’s career but i wonder anybody bothered about this guy.

He used say he did lots of hiking from his childhood, i felt he had started all these things in US by looking at some other person. I am sure he must not have climbed his back yard compound wall back home. I always look at consistency in one person. One can tolerate one or two aberrations, but not at every thing you try to look at. He was so negative attitude, he negates everything what ever one says and he used put in his own details while giving some information which one cannot validate immediately. So i did not argue with him that much i just ignored him and moved on. I think he must have felt about me as a dumb guy.
Now both have moved out in our ways i am sure both of us will think twice before becoming room mates again!!.

Nostalgic about food.

Have you ever experienced in your life a certain addiction to a particular food with particular flavor and taste.No matter you eat that food any where in the world you will never ever get satisfied and you constantly miss that taste.And sometime you regret that you could not eat as often as you could, simply because we could not afford it.

It was way back in late eighties when i used to live in beautiful Bangalore. Unlike today Bangalore was so peace full and a calm place my brother and me used to ride a bicycle and go to a mobile shop(i.e a small shop on wheels) and eat "Masala poori" and "Pani poori" which used to cost us just Rs 1.50 a plate, together we both would spend utmost 6 rupees. we used to go some where around 7:30 and 8 PM in the night relish the great stuff.

I agree it was not the most hygienic food. After seeing the way food is prepared and eaten across the world i don't see any difference in hygienic when people in US eat a sausage sandwich on a busy street or a Mexican tortilla. It is just a perception we all have that western world is advanced country

where every citizen is having great food and other benefits.

Coming back to the Masala poori and pani poori my mouth still waters while i type this blog. I wish long lives to "Shankar" and "Ravi" who used to prepare great dishes during those days.

If they knew that they could patent a recipe, i am sure they could be millionaires by this time. Shankar used to run his shop at East End bus stop and Ravi at 9th Block.

Shankar was so friendly with me and my brother, we used to discuss many things with him. Due to family issue he had to give away his shop to one of his relatives and start a new one in BTM layout. Once he went to BTM layout i could not go so far and also i was not sure where he had set up his new shop. So started to go only to Ravi's shop in 9th Block.

I think Ravi still runs his Chat shop in 9th block. He has great memory he remembered me when i visited him after a gap of at least 3 years. He told me that he cannot forget the old customers in his usual modest way. Ravi makes great masala curry and serves the chat with great precision. Every plate he makes will have same amount of masala in it and it tastes exactly the same even today.

Anna wins the battle but loses the war.

The whole episode of Anna vs government was very interesting and a significant event of independent India's history. The events of whole movement took place in a melodramatic way and finally Anna and team could not achieve what ever they hoped to achieve. It is the evil(politicians) which won finally by just giving a perception to the good(Anna Team) that it was victory to Anna.

The objectivity of Anna's movement was to put forth and pass a strong bill in a parliament so that corruption in Indian government system gets eradicated.But it could merely get an assurance from the government that it would create a strong lokpal bill in future. The fight was so intense that it took one year for government to consider Anna team's challenge and also did under estimate the challenge till the last minute.And finally had to conceded by just giving some promises that it would put a strong bill in future.
Anna's health was so important in this movement because one could not fast for ever till the government passes a strong bill and concedes to all demands. so it was logical for Anna and its core team to agree on some meager demand and call of the fast. Or else it would have been humiliating defeat for Anna's team and government would have suffered major set back.Government did not loose that much ground because the stakes on the Anna's team was greater when the number of days of movement increased.

Anna's team were very methodical in handling the corruption issue with government. They indeed did put in lots of effort in educating people about corruption. They organized many rally and events by bringing in lots of awareness among the public.They did a initial demand to be part of drafting committee of Anti-corruption bill.Even though they did succeed in getting through but they could not get any kinds of suggestion incorporated into the bill when it was submitted to the parliament.

Government was simply adamant and arrogant that only it could pass a bill and also it is the only institute to put forth any kind of bill or amendment to the parliament and therefore debate the same and pass/stop the bill. I feel this was one of the primary differentiators in the whole game of the Anti-corruption bill. Anna's team did not have any answer and they could not take head on with the democratic system or the parliament process.
Prashant bushan was only person in Anna's team members who could articulate about the current system and it's draw back in the television debate but it did not catch up the public imagination and was not part of the whole movement. Because Anna's team were only fighting against the corruption.

The argument of parliament process and democratic system was repeated thousands of times by many people who acted as though they were agents of the congress government and nobody from the Anna's team provided right argument. The main draw back in current system according to my mind is the whole issue of passing the bill which would check the activities of the parliament itself. Who will be accountable of parliament function.And since there is no transparency in the system it get's even more harder to get accountablity.
Anna's team did not mention this draw back of the system. And i feel they must have argued that parliament is no doubt supreme. But it would not pass any kind of bill which would put checks and balances on itself. And only check we have in the system is the election which occurs once in 5 years. 5 years is too long a time for people to remember things while casting their vote.

I do not want to sound like Anna's team has lost everything, but it did gain lots of stuff in this movement. which is the people's popular support. And that too large number of youth's representation in metros, districts and towns. This support can be leveraged by Anna's team to get into the Parliament system as elected MPs and then bring in a transformation to the whole system thus benefiting the common man.

100% cut off

Recent news about SR College of commerce New Delhi is about announcing 100% cut off for non commerce students to enroll for BCom course. That means science graduates who wants to get into commerce course must have 100% marks score (I guess in core subjects) to get admission in SRCC for BCom course.

I was shocked to see this and then I was thinking why would a science student wants to get a BCom degree? If at all he wants to get one why did he/she not opt for commerce course after 10the Grade. Isn't it insane to get enrolled in science stream for 11th and12th, score high percentage and then jump into commerce course to become a Bachelor of commerce?
Or do students have some strategy to learn some important subject such as science and commerce related subjects so that they can either do well in MBA or civil service examination such as IAS/UPSC
I do not know why students want to do this, might be true if it is helpful for a particular student to clear future course and exams , then why not ?

Keeping in mind, I was thinking why not allow 11th and 12th students to select all core subjects so that they could take up respective course without any hassle. I was going through various states/central syllabus of 11th and 12th grades of different states. I felt there is no uniformity and certain states students are having distinct advantage over the other.

In straight words states syllabus and course offering must be made uniform by HRD ministry and must ensure that there is a fair competition among students of various states when it comes to all India examinations.
For example, AP students in 11 and 12, study only 3 core subjects (like Physics, Chemistry and Math) where as in Karnataka this option is simply not available for students. They have to take 4 core subjects (like Physics, Chemistry, Math and Bio). Even though if the student is planning to go to engineering why study Biology for 2 years and loose out in some competitive exams like IIT/JEE.

One reason I can see why AP students are getting more ranks is because of this distinct advantage. And plus AP science syllabus is in line with IIT entrance exam syllabus. Any student of AP has to just learn once and then take both exams without any hassles. Whereas Karnataka student has to study one extra subject and plus change focus from state exams and IIT exams and also put lot of effort to crack both exams. One of the Topper of Karnataka got 151st rank in IIT. On the same scale AP topper got 1st Rank in IIT.

This is what makes a difference when it comes to university aligning things properly and providing best course to choose. Same way Delhi University can offer students to choose 3 or 4 or 5 subjects so that particular candidate can go to either commerce or science course in future. One such example can be Physics, Accountancy, Mathematics and Chemistry.

Colleges who enroll students must just see the subjects of concern rather than looking into some score which is no longer relevant for course. Many Colleges in Karnataka look into social Studies and language scores when they offer science courses. Isn't it unfair for students?

Let’s face it; nobody can be genius in all subjects which he takes up. Some people might score good scores even 100%. That doesn't mean he has mastered that subject. It is only in that particular exam (it is only in that instance). Again in school education we have 3 boards CBSE, ICSE and State. Each of one makes students to get into rote learning without focusing on overall development. CBSE particularly helps students to get into some of top universities of India. But some states do not have that many CBSE schools at all. Some of the state syllabus are so out dated that when students come out of the college they find it difficult to score marks. I personally had to put lot of effort to match the college syllabus after completing the school. And plus students do not get any guidance to study as soon as they enter college.

Bottom line is, it is high time all Indian universities look into their course offerings and syllabus. And thus provide a uniform platform for all aspiring students of India.

Soft Power defeats Pakistan

March 30th world cup semi-final, India Vs Pakistan match at Mohali cricket grounds was all set. I had taken half day off to watch the existing match which could not happen very often. I was cheering up from India. Pakistan gave a good fight and eventually lost the match in high pressure conditions.

I was thinking about both the teams after the match, I felt personally on paper both Indian and Pakistan team looked same with different strengths and weakness. But of a given day which team had the advantage eventually had a good chance of winning the match.

I felt India won this particular encounter because of soft power and not because of exceptional cricket team or any individual brilliance.

What is this soft power?

First - Economic Power
India is getting better and better economically and Pakistan is getting into a shell with lots on internal problems and international pressure. In sports world economic power contributes either directly or indirectly in getting certain advantage. Such home support , conditions , accessibility to better training and others.This edge must have made a difference between both the teams

Second - Bollywood
Pakistan people watch Bollywood movies and most of Pakistan people and cricketers love Bollywood actors and actress and also idolize them. In this particular match lots of Bollywood stars were present and they were cheering for India. This creates an artificial pressure on players and that too particularly on young player who have just started their international cricketing career.

Third - IPL
Due to security reasons and politics, in recent IPL auction no Pakistan players were selected to IPL. This had created lots of heartburns to Pakistan players, media and people. When I saw their conversation about this, I felt some kind of eagerness in Pakistan players to play in IPL and also to make money out of it. In that sense no player wants to have a bad relation with Indian counter parts and also might want to build a personal relationship with individual players and IPL owners. This got the players into some kind of artificial pressure where they want to show case their talent but not defeat the Indian team with lots of individual aggression. Which we have seen in lots of India vs. Pak matches earlier.Pak players were playing like English player who just play and not show any kind of expression on the field. And also in the post match conference. Pak captain was very gracefully in accepting the defeat.

Fourth - Home ground and people.
Any strong team when playing in front of hostile people and ground is bound to lose the game. Every sport has shown this time and again and Cricket is not different to this. If you want to defeat a strong team, Invite a home series and win the matches!!

I do not want to sound that Indian team won this match without any effort. The above 4 points just provides a better platform to go and conquer the world. Apart from that all the players have to put in effort and get the world cup. There are no short cuts to success. One has to go through pain to make any gain.

India in 2050 and beyond

India in 2050 and beyond

Do you know , what is the hot topic among the emerging economies ? It is, which country will have highest GDP in year 2050 and who will be the controlling the world at that time.
Many Speculate it will be either China or India. But others think US will retain its current position. Nobody is quite sure how it is going to be like in year 2050. As i am Indian , i would love India to be at number one position as quickly as possible and let the growth rates grow from current 8% to 9 , 10 and more. If at all this happens, I was just imagining and drawing parallels between US states and cities to Indian states and cities. The reason behind this would be because of my limited knowledge about other countries and also because of personal experience in being and knowing the both US and India fairly very well.

So how would India look in 2050 when it is at the helm , super power , etc.

1. Delhi should look like Washington DC and all the cities around Delhi must be as current DC area like McLean , Reston , Herndon etc...

2. Mumbai , Pune should become like New york , New Jersey with super fast train facility

In this way i can keep going. Bottom line is people should start seeing these kind of development, infrastructure and access to become number one country in world. I am sure India will eventually become super power. Even though i am not optimistic about it, but i would like to end this blog on a positive note, if not in 2050 India will eventually become a super power one day we just do not know when it is going to happen.

Tri-Valley Fraud or Innovation ?

Recent news about Tri-Valley university has created lots of heart burns to many people and there were lots of pro and con comments. And if you read the forums and comments one could see a War going on in the web world. Today I do not want to discuss that particular issue and I am not interested in the analyzing who is right and who is not.

But deep under this I see a Innovation happening in the modern world of Internet, email , YouTube , social networking , clouding computing etc.

Are you confused ? what is the innovation here. Most innovating thing which I see in this education model in the making the graduates learn through Internet and work as well.

Isn’t this sound familiar, already in India we have distance learning , In US there are lots of executive MBA which offers people to study and also work simultaneously. Other example which I can think of is the BITS Pilani MS program. Where lots of software engineers are taking up. Then what was different in Tri-Valley which offered students to work and study simultaneously.

According to me there is no difference. Only issue in this case was the government authorization, because the university was not transparent in letting the government officials about their offering to the students. so it was considered sham.

Because of the innovation, the number of students getting enrollment to the university sky rocketed from 100 to 1500 students in just 10 months. Is it the offering given by the university was so good that students got drawn towards it. Online classes , work while you study , no stipulated timings and no confinement to class rooms. won’t the students and working professionals love this model of education. Why not have this kind of university? Of course there must be required approvals from the government.

The next big question will be the recognitions, will the industry recognize these degrees ? Why not if the quality of students coming out these universities are excellent. I am sure that in next 10 to 15 years one would find lots of universities running on this model which would enable any student to get the required qualification from any part of the world.

Sit back for a moment and assume if all of IITs , IIMs, Harvard , MIT , Berkley etc offer online course with proper examinations and degree. Don’t you think students , professionals and others will be eager to join.Look at the pricing model, universities will be getting more students , lesser cost , no infrastructure required. And more over anybody from the remotest place could get an a degree from an esteemed university and finally a good job.

Facebook, a social networking internet site is very popular now a days and it has around 650 million users and the numbers are growing very fast. I too have an account and i visit the site once a day. I created this account because one of friends had an account in it and he invited me to join in and i was hooked on to it.
As an user of Facebook for 3 to 4 years, i have noticed the following.

Facebook is the only social networking site out there which has got better user interface and implementation. therefore more users and most popular social networking site.
Facebook was initially opened for school/college students, which got popular and everybody started to create accounts. Lots of parents who want to keep an eye on their children have created an account.
Many people who play games on face book have lots of time to spend. or probably might be feeling lonely, So they spend their time on games.
Lots of Status updates means, that person has a smart phone or he might be seeking for lot of attention. And it is more likely that He/She must have a inferiority/superiority complex.
Uploads lots of photos implies he/she is camera freak and does't care about privacy of self and other individuals. And also that person is a party animal and keeps creating/attending events all the time and thus uploads photos of the same.
If the photos album contains mostly building, nature, animals means that person travels alone or has very few friends with him while travelling.
Lots of you tube links , video uploads implies he/she is spending lots of time watching videos online and does't own a Television !!!
Lots of friends would imply that person is very active socially or that person will be good at something. Like intelligence, talent or sport. Most of times good looks invite lots of friends.
Somebody posting lots of personal stuff means there is nobody for that person to share personal things. or he/she is seeking for sympathy.
one could learn of lots of things of a person such as attitude, personality , social status etc..

India needs Revolution.

Have you ever renovated your house while staying in it. Believe me it is a mess. In early 90s, my father was did a small renovation of our house and we stayed in the house while extending a part of kitchen, bathroom and dining hall.
I was not comfortable during those 30 days of renovation. There was no privacy coz, workers were every where doing the job. The entire place was full of dust. The small tiny particles of sand and cement were there in all the places.
My mom used to clean the house all day long to keep it clean. Once the renovation completed, there was sense of relief and I particularly was happy because of no dust.
I am telling you this story because this exactly fits the current Indian system. Be it the Nair Radia tapes, Telecom Scandal, common wealth scandal,political parties, etc.
By seeing India from a distance, as i am currently outside India, i feel India is still in process of renovation, there is corruption every where. Everybody know all political parties and bureaucrats are corrupt,
Judicial system is corrupt(verdicts are getting fixed), Big media and Business houses are corrupt, NGOs are corrupt, Sport(i should say cricket) is corrupt. I am not sure what is clean in India.

From outside everything looks corrupt, and it is bound to happen when one system is corrupt. A person moving from political system into business house will make business house corrupt. In today's world we notice political parties are running different things such as television networks, newspapers, NGOs , Sport bodies. So therefore everything is going to get corrupt. Or i should everything has got corrupt. when i Contract this with renovating the house the Dust has entered every room of the house. I get two questions one why did we all end up with such an system? and how can we clean this mess?

I personally feel we have ended up with such as system because of Indian population. India is so hugely populated every body has to fight for there part of share to lead a life. Before India opening up the market(ie. from 1947 to 1991) the life
in India was so different, there was scarcity of every available resources. People had to fight for that and as per the Darwinian theory the "Survival of the fittest" held people's every walks of life.
To give an example one of my friend's friend passed out as dental doctor and to get a government job he paid one corrupt politician and got a post a dental doctor in a remote village. When he went to that village there were no patients coming for the hospital with dental problems and he was sitting ideal for months together. One fine day there was a auditing people who came to see the hospital details and they found that this doctor is not seeing any patients. The Auditing officials taught that the doctor was not coming to hospital so he is not seeing the patients. They warned the doctor not to do this and took a bribe so that they would report differently to the auditing office and went away. The poor doctor now had to either go out in street and get some patients and treat them or cook the records with fake names. If he does't do either of them he will be removed from the job. As i have seen every where, people push the envelope when it comes to job security. so this doctor started to cook the records. once you say one lie to cove the that lie you have to tell another. which exactly happed to this doctor. he started to remove the medicines from the hospital to prove that he is treating so many patients.
what would one do with so much of medicines, he sold the same to pharmacy. Once the doctor gets involved in this kind of activity the support staff, nurses and others too get involved and finally the system emerges which would to strong, nobody can break this kind of corruption.

If you extrapolate the same to the all the departments and country as whole, i feel it will be very hard to imagine the levels of corruption which exists in India. And i would like to again emphasis the point of population which is making the people go away from morals , principles and ethics because of job security and when so many people as just behind somebody or other waiting for your job.

Talking about the second question which is how can we clean this mess?. I know it is an uphill task, which require some very brave and principled people who can sacrifice for the county like Mahatma Gandhi , Tilak , Tagore, Subhas Chandra Bose , Baghat Singh etc. I am positive that this is going to happen very soon because more and more people are getting awareness of the corrupt system. And i feel tolerance level of the common man would reach the peek and that would trigger a revolution among the people to clean the system. When ever there is injustice and unfairness every where civil revolution is bound to happen. I think it is India's turn now when you compare the civil revolution of European countries and history.

Human brain is created in such as way that it tries to innovate and keeps building on the existing innovation. Therefore this raises the bar on each individual achievement.
On other day, I was just thinking about social networking, Facebook, MySpace , Orkut etc. which lead me to think all about computer and internet.

If you look at computer and internet from a distance, it is indeed remarkable achievement of mankind. Initially there was no computer everything was done manually, next computers were invented to make things work automatically. Once the computer were built, these computer were inter connected through a network and eventually globally which is called Internet . Internet has made the computer very powerful. The connected computer is more powerful and lethal when compared to the standalone system.

Once we had established the network, lots of interactive system were built such as email system, centralized application client-server technology and Web technology. Initially it was client technologies, later on web technologies took the precedence over the client.

Client technologies lead to various applications such as mainframes, databases, email client , group ware software executable files , application tools, chat softwares and others.

Web technologies lead to applications such as email system, web chat, search and everything one could do on client was transferred to web.

Now we are in a phase called social networking. which has been built over the existing framework which is the internet and web technologies.Search and social networking are great tools/apps in today's web world.When we look into the client technologies the world has changed there too in terms of smart phone, tablets, e-Readers and net-books where people can simple touch and talk to the device and get things done smartly.

During this era many people who could think ahead of the current scheme of things went on to become millionaires and billionaires and left a mark in the technology world.

The Next Major step in the IT world will be could computing and implementation of different applications and services around the could services. Applications on cloud can be all the current application which provides access from any where and from any device. One can imagine working in office, home or in any public place where there is internet connectivity on same set of data accessible from the cloud. cloud computing would help you access data from different system, put them or cloud, process and remove them. One could watch movies, photos, videos etc on cloud.

Microsoft , Google, IBM , Apple are investing heavily in cloud computing. And it will be interesting to watch who would come out stronger in this implementation.
I feel cloud computing can lead to cell phone kind of services where people can use the cloud, software, application and other features based upon minutes which are connected to the cloud. Of course with a default set of free minutes and data capacity. Cloud computing also can get clumsy, because of different companies having their own cloud and offering services out of that cloud. We might end up with Google cloud, Microsoft cloud, Apple cloud etc. what would one do if they are want to access data from different cloud and process.

You might see a jailbreak code or a cloud tethering service to access different cloud data. And you will see inter-cloud porting service being offered by different companies.

The million dollar question would be what next after cloud ?. I am not sure, but will be existed to blog once i figure it out.

My Love with Football

June 2010, FIFA world cup has started and I am really excited to watch the matches. And I can't wait to see my favourite team win the world cup. I don't know why I love this sport more than any other, though cricket is very popular sport in India. I happened to love this sport more.

It all began in 90, I had learnt Maradona and Pele were the legends of football and I had watched them play in pervious world cup highlights which was telecasted in our only TV Channel of India the Doordarshan on Sundays. 1990 was the year, where the FIFA world cup was held in Italy and my hero Maradona was playing in it. I was glued to the TV all night watching great matches. Due to time difference and one channel could not telecast multiple matched at same time. I had missed some matches in 90, but i had seen most of them live. Argentina was brilliant in this world cup. Maradona was great. He helped Argentina win matches against Brazil, Yugoslavia and Italy. These were the matches which I cannot forget. Maradona is a kind of person who has an aura around him which makes other players in the team to excel better and give the best shot all the time.

The match between Italy and Argentina in semi final was dream match where Argentina defeats Italy in a nail bitting penalty shoot out. Particularly in this match Italy scores the first goal very quickly in first half. For that I was really shocked and felt that Argentina might not make it to finals. As everybody knows Italy had the home advantage and referees were partial and helping the Italy. Argentina was trying all its chances to win this match. Only option to win this match was converting the half chance into the goal which exactly Caniggia Argentina’s sticker did in the 2nd half. He heads the ball in the air at a superb angle which deceives the Italy's goal keeper and entire stadium in Italy goes silent and I get pumped up in midnight 12:00 PM in India.

After this, in extra time, one of Argentina's players gets sent off and they manage to hold Italy with 10 players and eventually win the in penalty shoot.

Unfortunately in the finals Argentina loses because of referee who gives a wrong decision and Germany in finals plays negative football by either holding the ball or kicking the ball outside the line. Thus Germany wins the world cup.

Next world cup was in US in 94, I would say this world cup was the fairest world cup ever in the history of world cups. US made sure, fair play happens and nobody is at advantage. Whenever there is fair play Brazil takes the world cup home.

France- 98, I would consider this world cup as the worst world cups ever. I feel this world cup had all the wrong things in it like Partial referees, matching fixings and also in the final the star sticker Rolando of Brazil was given something to make him sick. Despite that he plays and France wins this world cup by cheating.

2002 - Korea/Japan world cup was one those ugly world cups where the Hosts Japan and Korea makes it to quarter finals and semi finals. Which they had never done earlier and will never do it again in future, Provided they host it again!!. Thank god they were not in finals. Brazil wins this world because they did not face the host nation in earlier stages.

2006 Germany - This world cup was better than pervious once. Germany had some level of home advantage. But they were not cheating. On the scale of fairness it was 75% good. Italy wins this world cup by beating France. I loved the semi final match between Germany and Italy.

2010 South Africa - My guess based upon earlier world cup. At least one African team will be in semi finals. Could be South Africa itself and other one may be Ivory Cost/ Ghana? One European team in semis, I feel that team could be Spain or Germany.

Argentina and Brazil are favourites for semis unless something different happens. I wish Argentina lifts the world cup this time, because my Hero Maradona is the coach.

Interesting cultural difference

Yesterday, I happen to learn a very interesting cultural difference between western and eastern people. One colleague of mine had done a small mistake and he hails from my country India. Our manager was really angry about the mistake. And he was really vocal in making his assertion.

To this reaction, my colleague in a true Indian way started to explain why he did and it looked like he was justifying his mistake. But in reality Indians whenever they commit the mistake they try to explain why he made that mistake and what happened but my manager being from western culture was not at all interested in listening to all that crap. He was making his point that, I am saying this and you are supposed to do it. And my manger from the western culture interpreted in totally different way. He felt my colleague was trying to defend this action and going to repeat it again. So he got more aggravated and said it has to be the way and I say it.

After this incident, I was thinking about Indian culture and western culture. Indian culturally always accepts the boss/master/elders irrespective of the instruction. They will be 100% committed. And I was wondering where is the difference ? After carefully thought process I concluded.

Many times Indians like to talk about the mistake, explain in detail and also sometime justify that it happened because of something else. By doing this Indians feel they might escape the greater trouble and pacify the master/boss/Manager.

On Contrary in western culture the attitude is bolder and straight forward. They accept the mistake and say I would not do it and move on from there. This main difference some time leads to misunderstandings and western people might feel this guy wants to justify the act and repeat it going forward. Thus leading to different opinion and misunderstanding.

Why do Indians talk about the mistake?

Historically Indians were ruled by different people and many times Indians had to explain each and every act to their masters. In those time masters liked to listen the explanation of one’s mistake. I guess this must have resulted in explanations.

As I remember from my childhood, I too have done lots of explanations to different people because I was asked many times about the same mistake committed by me. The questions were simply like why did you do it? How did you do it? When did you do it? Personally I feel we Indians waste lot of time in explaining the mistake.

More and more you explain, the more it gets registered in your brains and probability of repeating it might be higher. Many times people expect to come up with some kind of explanations for the mistake committed by you. I feel this kind of up brining makes the kid to make up stories and also some kind of justification about the wrong.

Since we all live in a world where western culture dominates over the world. I think it would be better to follow the below.

- In case if you make a mistake, never ever justify. Accept the mistake and say you are not going to do it and move on. Minor mistake would get pardoned and you move on. Major mistake any case will not help you either you give great explanation or not. It would depend upon one's manager it can be like make or break condition. Leave the decision to the manager and move on.

- In case if you have not done the mistake, then what would you do? It is really tricky situation because you must think what your boss thinks about the mistake. Is it committed or not? Try to learn that? Ask directly? Say to your manager that, you did this what do you think? Is it a mistake?

If he says yes, then follow the above steps. If your manager thinks it is not a mistake, then you get an opportunity to explain. Then 'only' explain. But it has to be very brief. Never ever exaggerate.

Moral of the story is, western people do not like to waste time on something which is not required. They like to finish the things as quickly as possible and move on.

Whereas Indians like to talk about different things, come with explanations, justifications and most often "The Time" takes second precedence over other things.

Screen play - My Script

1. Priya crying with all the tears in red eyes with all the emotions. Abhi standing still blind folded at the door of the train. Priya tears drops on the floor, first drop, signal given and train starts and train moves slowly, engine noise, huge puff of air. Priya crys more harder and more drops of her tears drop and train starts to pick up speed.

After sometime Abhi come back to seat and rests. Priya in still crying in the car with 3 friends next to her. 2 in the front and 2 at the rear. nobody is talking.

It starts to rain, car gets completely wet, Priya get little wet due to car window open. Her friend closes the window. And Priya gets down at her house, car driver friends says she is in hurry and got to go to hospital and other also say they would like to catch up later. Priya says ok and gets down and goes inside a big mansion.

Gets into her room, lays down on her bed and start crying.

Abhi getting introduced to Priya.
Priya wins a game, Abhi loses the bet and treats Priya & Friends
Abhi meets Priya in common friend's reception
Priya and Abhi debate. Both fight it out equally nobody wins. Priya and Abhi break up they do not talk.

Abhi and Priya feel they are in love but do not tell anything to each other
Abhi gets job and gets posted to a new location
Abhi and Priya together shop and Priya helps Abhi in shopping.
Priya's Parents and Abhi's do not know about this affair

4. Abhi reaches new place and settles down, phone rings and it is Priya crying. Priya says she cannot leave without

Abhi. Abhi is touched and feels like coming back. Promises Priya he will return soon.

5. Abhi and Priya call each other way too often. They exchange SMS and emails

6. Abhi and Priya talk over phone entire night on Fri & sat

7. Abhi completes his assignment, returns to home.

8. Priya is waiting for Abhi. Abhi parents also come to recieve Abhi. Priya and Abhi Hug each other. Abhi's parent watch this and are shell shocked.

9. Abhi's Parents are not happy about Abhi's relationship with Priya. They propose a new relationship

10. Abhi defends and says he cannot live without Priya. His parents accepts and says no marriage till your sister's marriage.

11. Priya clears American dental assoication exam. Priya's parents and friends congratulate Priya and wish her good luck. Abhi congratulates Priya and then learns Priya will be leaving to LA for studies. Abhi is sad but feels it would be better if Priya goes for further studies. Priya is not happy but all the pressure from parents and Abhi makes her go to abroad.

12. Abhi cries departing Priya, Priya boards flight crying.

13. Priya reaches LA and settles down in the college campus

14. Abhi start on a new software project.

15. Priya concentrates on studies and Abhi works hard on his project. - No time for phone calls/emails

16. Time difference makes them not to talk too often on phone.

17. Abhi Sister gets married, Abhi starts gettting many offers

18. Abhi parents wants Abhi to marry, but Abhi wants to marry only Priya.

19. Abhi calls Priya and proposes over phone and asks her to marry him

20. Priya is still studying and she will be completing the studies next year

21. Abhi parents in order to avoid the marriage try to fix Abhi by giving no time and proposes new girl.

22. Abhi goes in for engagement coz his mother becomes sick. doctors gets bribed and they say Abhi's mother has only few days to go.

23. Abhi looks depressed and looses focus on work. Delivers bugged software in his project work.

24. Abhi's manager talks to Abhi and discusses the issues.

25. Abhi's manager talks with the client and client agrees for one person to onsite provided every thing gets fixed on time.

26. Abhi's manager says you need to go to LA.

27. Abhi gets exicted. Marriage date at home gets fixed.

28. Abhi does not tell anybody about this US trip.

29. Priya's friends help Abhi to pack stuff. Abhi talks with Priya about his trip

30. Priya gets exicted.

31. Marriage date arrives. Abhi escapes previous day of marriage reception and boards flight at mid night.

32. Abhi's parents are busy on marriage day.

33. Abhi reaches bombay, calls his father and tells about his trip.

34. Abhi father asks him return and says about his mother

35. Abhi says about false claims from his father, tells about 2nd opinion from other doctor.

Telangana Issue

Demand for separate state has intensified from last 10 years and every party in Andra Pradesh have supported the cause to get the votes. But none of the parties were willing to implement the same. And since there were lot of opposition in the center and at the state level, the creation of

separate state never happened and TSR party who's main agenda was to create separate state was waiting for any opportinuity.

In year 2008, things changed drastically, congress got full majority in both center and in the Andra assembly polls. YSR who was not in favour of separate state, he controlled all this opposition and TSR which had lost many seats was not able to do any thing.

But in year 2009 YSR died in a unfortunate tragic event. After YSR's death, the Telengana issue started to come up and TSR chief, Rama raju, i guess must have met congress president sonia gandhi.

He surprisingly started to fast and got, lot of media attension. And suddenly after 10 days of fasting Home minister of congress makes an announcement that Indian government is going to start the process of forming Telengana. This announcement created sudden shock in the minds of Andhra people, MLA and MPs.

Most of the MLA and MPs started to resign because congress president did not have the consent of the elected MLA and MPs from Andhra. one could easily build an consipracy theory of death of YSR to TSR's fasting and then announcement of separate State in haste.

Conspiracy theory apart, lets look at issue of creating smaller state.

How should any country must divide regions into states ?

One can consider different parameters such a Area, Population, Language, Per capita income, male/female ratio, literacy rate, culture, Political presence(number of seats), consent from the people, smooth transition and many dependent and independent factors.

Balanced states, Any country must have states which are balanced with each other when compared on above parameters. Lesser representation of above parameters can make the one state more dominant than the other and will not be good for country's politics. India in earlier days had UP as the single largest state and it represented 80 seats at the center and congress would sweep all the 80 seats from on single state and easliy used to get the majority at the center.

similar was the case with the Bhiar & West Bengal. States like Mahrastra,MP,Tamil Nadu,AP and few others stood at 2 spot in representation. States like karnataka, Orissa, Kerala, North easter states have lesser representation and their voices hardly get heard in the parliament. So i feel balanced states approach will make the county to grow in homogenous way.

Moderate and tolerent states - India is always tolerant and modreate state, but we get to hear abberation sometimes. Getting over these abberation makes the states good and prosper. And India will emerage truly as domecratic state.

Spliting states based on culture and age old region would only make the state suffer from development and create lot of groupisim and therefore more intrastate conflicts might occur. I do agree that politicians are taking advantage of religionalism and community as a differentiator to win election, but in the globalised era, they will not be able to take it further becuase of lot of awareness among people.

Taking specifically about Teleangana, i have very little doubt about the its growth because when it cannot grow when it was unified the it will not grow individually.

more politicians and political parties would get created in the process of creating new states. Representation at the center will be very less and both Andhra and Teleangana will suffer because they would not support for any cause together. It would be good for other states. Larger population of Andhra and Teleanga will suffer where as smaller set of people such as politicians, burecarts , few govt Employees would be benefitted.

Is it necessary to create a state to benefit a small section of people or it is ok to have a mulitcultured soceity which lives as tolorent, modorate soceity.

United states is progessing because it is the most tolorent and fair soceity. Every body in US live as tolorent, modorate and compete in fair manner with other soceity people.

Andhar pradesh needs to learn to live united and move towards becoming moderate and tolerant soceity rather than separating themselves.

Creating separate states will lead to long lasting feudalism, and might become counter productive to each other. British who ruled India used the rule of divide and rule and even after 60 years of independence if our people do not understand the concept of unification progress. Then it is really alarming to the society.

Recently the HRD minster Kapil sibal announced that there will be no board exams for 10th and he will be planning on not to have 12th board exams as well in future. This announcement has triggered to lot of debate in media, students and parents. some of the students are really happy that they need not have to study and get pressuried. some of the teachers are pitching in for continous learning and thus might get more control on students than earlier. But still there are lot of unanswered questions on having board exams or not. Every body are keen to know about all details from government on board exams.

Board exams are in india for long time probably we inherited it from the british. Primary purpose of the board exams was to assess the student's performance and provide feedback to the student.Board exams results are looked into before admitting any student into higher education institutes, before selecting a candidate for a job, etc. Earlier this system worked perfectly simply because there were lesser aspirant students and supply/demand ratio was at optimum level.

After Indian independence i.e 60 years, things have changed considerablly. Population of india has doubled, more and more student population have becomed poential aspirants for colleges and schools. The quote system ensures backward community students 50% seats irrespective of their results. Rest of the 50% is left for general merit students who score very high marks and sometime it gets so competitive that 0.25 marks or even lesser makes a difference in getting a seat or not.

Now, what would be the impact of not having exams? how would one give seats when 2 students are separated by just 0.25 marks? will grade system work for indian education system.

Giving a seat under quote system is no big deal in present situation, because demand & supply for quota candidates in not that much. but for general merit students have the actual competition , because of fewer avalibility of seats and, more and more students are competing for lesser seats irrespective of quote or general merit students.

from the above we can conculde that more students are pressurized not because of the exam, it is because of competition of getting a seat after your exam. And many parents push their wards because 0.25 marks makes them to pay lakhs of rupees for admission. So parents make students not to watch televisions, send them to tutions, stop all their extra circular activities etc.

From the above inference it is clear that lack of seats in colleges are directly/indirectly driving parents, students and teachers into artificial pressure and intense competition.

Now with current announcement from government makes me feel crazy and i am not sure what are they thinking about it ?. Cancelling the board exams would bring in curroption and illegal practices in admission process and major impact will be towards good students. Now parents would be forced to pay money to different colleges, managements and politicians to get a seat in colleges. How would one differentiate a A+ student with other A+ student. Government is also proposing an optional objective typed examination to decide who would get admission. If this is true, are they getting rid of exam? it is just changing the face of board exam into optional exam which would eventually become compulsory simply because of competation in getting a seat.

finally my suggestion to government to reduce pressure of students are.

1. Increase the number of seats in all good and average colleges.

2. Increase salaries of all professors and lecturers.

3. Target for one IIT, one IIM, one AIIMS for every state.

4. Tie the salaries of professors based on performance. Have a variable component system in pay structure.

5. Provide easy access of loans to colleges and students to increase capacity.

6. Make the system unbaised.

7. Open new colleges and improve standards of existing colleges with good principals,professors, lectures and other facilities.

I recently happened to read that students will be given percentiles and grades, i guess this would be decider in selecting students for a particular college/course. But still i feel we will be back to square one. Things would only improve when one reduce the demand/supply ratio.

Murry mania

It is not andy murry britain's no 1 tennis player. I am refering to Al Murry, the pub landlord, is simply hilarious and wonderful to watch and listen to his comic stuff. I am indian and no where connected to britain expect for colonial period in early 19th century, during that time i was not even born. but i could get 90% of his jokes, few i went and re-listened to make sure i understood correctly. His concept of jokes is about Pubs and he prefers to be called pub landlord.

In pubs people talk about different topics and they have their own opinion for every topic in the news. And most of the opinions are funny and one cannot really argue with a drunk guy who is simply adamant on one thing and about his point of view.

Pub landlord is really patriotic in nature and loves britain so much that he hates all other countries and french being the top of the list. He likes the queens band and thinks all other bands are only second to queens. Every name which he hears becomes a beautiful british name. Pub landlord thinks britain has got best language, best national anthem, best music bands , best army and thinks all the best things comes out from britain. Apart from this he thinks even God is british because their are no earth quakes in britain. God will not have earth quakes where he lives !!!.

The lord thinks Itsy bitsy spider is also british and draws inspiration by listening to nursery rhyme Itsy bitsy spider which goes up the spout and always tries again and again to go to the up every time when it gets washed down by the rain.

Pub landlord thinks women can do only 2 jobs a) being secretary and b) being as nurse. All other jobs he categroies them either into nurse or secretary profile. He thinks women are not equal to men become they are much more polished and nice people than men. Sometime the land lord gets angry about the current british people because they are loosing their values and traditions. Once he embarassed a 16 year old lad for not lieing his age in public. He said he so terdior and out of touch of british tradition, he does't even know how to lie about his age in public. Ofcourse the land lord taught him the skill, so that he can have a glass of beer when he comes out on weekends.

The pub land lord belives that 2012 olympics will be disaster in london because of various complaints from differet organizations such a peta, human health , teachers, environmentalists etc. He puts this accross in really funny way.

One of his good joke is "Dropping of sausage"

I dropped me the sausgae joke was really hilarious one. In this joke, the pub lord drops the sausage and says he dropped me a sausage. To this other 3 guests react by saying. "Oh i see....." , "That's the big one" and "whoa........" in 3 rounds and finally the 4th guest picks the sausage by saying "don't worry, i will get your sausage" to his the lord plays a buggel to make a really nice background sound.

Few of his other good jokes are "American are dreamers" , "God exists" , "Dam the churchill" etc..

what would have happened?

few years back, i had received a email from my friend with the subject what would have happened if 1 ruppee was equal to 40 dollars?. The email had detailed description of how people in US and across the world would be dying to come to advanced country like India and their implications in terms of visa,climate,studies, food and other things.

I was just thinking on same lines as that email and though little more than that email. In what condition would have made india like US and US like India. I went back to days of Columbus. Columbus started of his voyage to find India and not US, it was just a co-incidence that he discovered US and people during that time felt US was indeed India for few days and they still call the Native Americans as Indians.

After this finding US, europeans started to move from europe to US and started to colonize US and there was war,trade, competation and supermacy. Eventually it was the britsh who started to control the US from england. Mean while India was also discovered and Britsh has just started the east india company. and it had started to do some trade.

Historically we know the different states in US combined together fought the british and US got their independence as early as 1774. By this time east India company in India was in its infancy and british was just about had captured bengal and mumbai and chennai regions. I feel once US got its independence, the britains had learned their lessons and strategy of handling/controlling a country from London. Queen got more cautious and obviously stared to send only those people who performed and were more loyally to London government. so british who came to india never aspired to rule the country themsleves rather than preferred to be ruled by the queen from england. I guess British people who were working India were paid properly and also had sufficent amount of control and liberty within themselves. Therefore all the lords who rulled india during those times never thought of ruling India by themselves.

Now think of a case, if columbus had discoverd India first rather than US, what would have happened. I personally feel the history would have happened on easter part of the world rather than on western part of the world. with the 20-20 hindsight. I think India would have been ruled by britsh rulers who would have fought against themselves and US which would have been discovered later, will be like India or probablly ended up differently or underdeveloped because london would have just focused on trade without giving the independence.

Independence is the key for any country to develop and prosper. If somebody has to wait for a decision from the queen will never be able to take any country to prosperity and never will think in terms of local people. He will become more self centered and thinks of himself before taking any decision.

So one can only blame the fate of India and circumstances that took place during the course of history. But on other had India was more fortunate to have British ruler in India rather than mughals. If mughals had ruled India without the interferance of British. Then India would have ended up as muslim country and would more likely ruled by different Arabic rulers and rules like burgka,taliban what Not would have been enforced. And one wrong foreign policy or war with west have ended up a brtual war and bombs being exploded every where in India. I guess even words like India/Hindu etc would have totally wiped off from the history. Just look at Egypt, do you see any native egyptians in that country. I afarid, it is NO, Egypt now is an Muslim country and i think the economy of Egypt runs only of oil and little bit of tourisim.

India should actually be thankfully to british to rule us rather than having mughals ruler to continue. No doubt one would choose lesser of the evil when you are certain that you are going to the ruled by somebody else.

Evidence indicates that modern humans originated in East Africa about 200,000 years ago. After first man and women,In initial days man, women and children lived together.Women due to their physical capabilities naturally were over-powered by man and they continued to stay with man because of no other alternatives.

we can conclude from this,the first difference, which human could realize was sex.

They learned that man is more powerful when compared to women and it was a good's gift. women could not do anything because she did not have any other alternatives. She continued to stay along with the man under dormant status.

Later on,centuries passed and ethnic groups were formed and they stayed together sharing knowledge, food, work and hardships.Due to environmental conditions like availability of water, food , preys and also because of growing population they formed different ethic groups.This eventually led to differences and people fought for water, food , authority, command. Eventually dominant ethic group started to flourish,others groups perished or got merged.

The next generation of dormant ethnic groups started to escape to totally new place in Africa. This way ethnic group started to live in different parts of east,west and central Africa.Their could be whole lot of other reasons also like epidemic disease which could have made the ethic groups to simply kill or amputate the diseased part of the one or many individuals. It was a bloody world where humans could have attacked other humans or animals could have killed and eaten if you are not able to defend yourself.

From this we can conclude that second set of differences, which is strength,power & command. Any human being when it comes to survival would naturally differentiate others humans.

Few of tribal people who were not allowed to stay in any part of Africa because of various reasons like decision of the kings in ethnic groups, or for a crime which was committed by individual or group, Or it can be a new successor of tribal group sending a current king on exile. All these people, who some how managed to escape from the Africa landed in Middle East, Asia and Europe. As we all know the availability of natural resources in Middle East and Europe was relatively less compared to Asia.Most of the people then would have preferred Asia as their destination. But few unknowingly entered Europe and continued to stay their and made a living with limited available resources.

This way people of Africa started to migrate to different part of worlds like Middle east, Europe and Asia and more ethnic groups were created within the those specific regions resulting in lots of conflicts and hardships.People moving to new place has long term environmental impact on them. Their skin color got changed, making them to turn from black to brown in Asia and from black to white in Europe. Any person would't turn from black to white, it takes generations, climatic effects are more effective on new born and on children. when humans could see different skin color in themselves, they got the 3rd differentiator, the SKIN COLOR.

Armed with there differentiator, humans were eager to venture into more differentiators which eventually created lots of problems later on.

Fourth differentiator came, when people started to communicate with each other. once people started to stay in differentiate places their body, life style, food habits , survival instincts changed. People started to talk with different dialect, languages and different words were created. This language as differentiator lead into separation of people even though looked exactly same.

After thousands of years, Fifth differentiators came into existence when people started the living with different life style. People adopted different life style because of climate conditions. for example people in middle east would ware a turban in hot weather, where as western man wore tight clothes to make himself warm due to cold weather. Life style being the catalyst lead to different ways of thinking and Human brain by nature thinks differently from one individual to other. This thought process led to imagination of God in different ways, every individual had his own interpretation of GOD.

Different interpretation of god lead to creation of small groups of certain god believers and eventually became Religion. And finally we have hundreds of religion today. So I say the fifth differentiator is the thought process of certain individual. Adamant, stronger, consistent, focused and convincing your are, you would become more dominant and others will be over powered by this.

Apart from above differentiators, there are other differentiators like food( veg/non-veg) , castes(again castes are made based upon work which you do) , Class (which is based upon how much money you own & life style) and many more.

From the beginning , human are not able to get rid of any of the differentiators. Instead they are used by many individuals, Groups, employers, employee, lawyers, doctors, businessman, societies, states, countries, invaders, politicians and lots of other people. we find there is era of each differentiator making waves in entire world at different times. In early days it was religion, later it was color then languages and again religion it goes on.

In 21st Century, the main differentiator is the Religion. People simply are not able to digest other person's thought process and life style.

Solution for above differentiators can be only be time and scientific advancement.

If one could change his skin color through laser treatment, then we can get rid of that differentiator or air conditioned environment would lead our future generations to have more or less same color.Finding the truth of universe and it's evolution, alien existence, discovering earth like planets and exploring the universe would give us altogether a different and same picture of god for every one. Empowering all women with advance scientific knowledge and protection and medical advancement of changing sex from male to female and female to male would also eventually remove the sexual differences.

Small Time Investor, Watch Out.!!

what should small time investors should look before investing there hard earn money?.

1. Most of the indian companies are linked to different political parties. Before investing into any company, check for political nexus between the founders or Company directors.

How would one check for the same?; Check for each and every individual director or promoter's profile. If you feel any political contact in terms of relatives,kith, kin and anybody directly or indirectly related then , be very careful.

Secondly, Check is that political party is in power ?; Is any elections coming up, it could be national, state or even by-elections. Because investor's money could be siphoned off for election campaining.

Thirdly, Check how is the company getting projects?; Do they have any unfair advantage?.

if so, then do not invest in these kind of companies, even if you have slighted amount of doubt. Some might argue that you could make good money with these tainted companies as well. my answer for those would be not to promote the evil over the good. finally, More you lower your standard more you will get into danger zone.

2. Track the investements of reputed big time inverstor companies

Investment companies like Morgan Stanley are good companies to track and decide the investement based upon their findings. Morgan Stanley had not invested any share in satyam. The comapnies's chief investor told he did not had any confidence with stayam's management,So Morgan had not bought satyam shares.

Interestingly, I would like to inform people in the share holding bussiness that Morgan-Stanley has not invested in ICICI Stocks as well. (i think it must be because of sub prime issue, so guys be careful if you have invested in ICICI)

3. Track Childrens of all the Founder Members

Some time founder might be very good, candid and clear, but their children,spouses might not be as capable or as good as the founders. Many times, kids of the founders will be the catalyst in changing the policies and reputation of the company thus resulting in the share value down fall of company stocks.

The Ambanis for example, Dirbubai was really good, but his kids Mukesh and Anil turned out to be killers in the Bombay stock exchange. who ever had invested money in the year 2003/04 had to wait for more than a year get back the returns from the stock market.

Why should a small time invester suffer because of cheap family affair?. Look into the Satyam issue, the Raju's Kids, in a way or the other were resposible for company's down fall.

There are numerous examples which i could quote that resulted in down fall of the company stocks and Indian investors suffered time and again without much help from government.

4. Look for the Banks with which Company deals

If the company is dealing with co-operative banks, or any small time bankers then do not invest your money in that company. Because many politicans create small time banks and close them before and after elections.

5. When in doubt sell of the shares

If you are in doubt for any reson simple encash your shares. Do not wait till the crisis hits you.

6. Do not ever be a Bull, always be Bears.

It is nice to be Bulls and aggresive, but for a small time investor being bulls is not good. You will loose money with out any clue. Just take Satyam's example when shares dropped from 240 to 160. If you had been Bull then you would have lost huge amount of money. Because now the value of Satyam is just 30.

Today i was reading the news of Satyam, i am really disappointed about an Indian company going down literally in couple of weeks. All the effort of 50,000 odd employees and years of

hard work by them went into drains in no time. if you look into this issue little deeply and look at ev

ery Indian you would see lots of hypocrisy, aberrations and unfaithfulness in

every walk of life. I do not want to generalize but the majority of them are that way.

I would like to quote few examples within India Inc , politics, films, Bureaucracy and others.

India Inc.

1) Ramalinga Raju tried to buy maytas only because his sons were the promoters of maytas.

The father was prepared to throw away all his reputation just for his sons. And did not care about 50,000 people's life.

2) Wipro chairman removed Vivek paul as CEO. As per the speculations Ajeem Preamji wanted to bring his son as CEO. Again father son fiasco.

3) Infosys made 1 billion in just 1 quarter sometime in year 2007. Is anybody listening, check the accounts of infy. i am not sure after Satyam Fiasco.

Politics.

Almost every politicians in India want to promote there children at any cost. They throw all the ideology out of window when it comes to their children.

1) Devegowda supported non secular party when he wanted his son to become CM. And withdrew the support when BJP's turn came.

2) Omar abdulla is made CM of J&K even though he lost his seat. Simply because his father Farooq abdulla wanted his Son to become CM. I can keep quoting about all politicians

Film Industry

Film Industry is one of most Hippocratic industry of India. Every hero's son will automatically becomes hero. Most of actress become heroins because of casting couch.

Bureaucrats

Most of Indian Bureaucrats of India like IAS,IPS,IFS etc promote their kids & relatives for jobs, tenders, govt opportunities and many more. I can quote some examples but not in blog.

From the above the main problem i see in Indian Society is the hypocrisy in terms of ideologies when it comes to their children. And others do not raise their voice even if they see lots of unfaithfullness every where. This is because of fear their own jobs, security and financial obligations.

I hope these things change in time and India would prosperous.

Can anybody guess , when will a person confess about his own fraud ?

Any person would confess only if there is tremendous pressure on him in different ways or when a person attains nirvana.

In case of Ramalinga Raju, he has confessed all by himself without any body blaming him or nobody filed a case against him.

I feel he must be pressurized by some share holders who had invested good percentage of money in the company. Now a days it has become common for politicians, mafia,underworld people owing shares of big companies. I think he must have got life threating warnings from these people. So he must have decided to better go to jail rather than die.

From the history people who confess in major incidents like Hansie Cronje who confessed about match fixing did have a very bad ending in his life. i think Ramalinga Raju's fate will also be same as Hasie Cronje

AADINA.....

After long time, I went to Film Theater to watch a Kannada movie. It was only because of my friend who wanted to watch this particular movie called AADINAGALU. I had read the review of this movie and felt this movie must be different compared to other commercial movies. I, T and P decided to watch this movie on Sunday afternoon in movie theater Triveni.We reached majestic at around 1:15 PM and when we 3 were walking in majestic area towards the movie hall I could see lot of Kannada movies running house full and we saw huge crowds in front of all movie halls. Kannada movies are doing well now a days.

We took the tickets for AADINA…… and entered the full house hall with tickets, the movie started in no time with just 2 ads. The movie starts off with hero and heroin shooting each others and then they take back seat leaving the 1980’s Karnataka rowdies in fore front.I learnt lot of things about under-world of Karnataka through this movie and it tells who were very prominent during 1970’s and 1980’s.

The director has put lot of effort to show the 1980’s peaceful Bangalore when compared to today. During those times there was no traffic and one hardly saw crowded places. The story mainly concentrates on 2 parts, one the love story of hero and the heroin and the other on two rowdy gangs who fight tooth and nail for supremacy.

I felt love story was just added in the movie to make audience relax between the intense gang war of rowdies. Director clearly shows how under-world seed was sowed in peaceful state of Karnataka; off course he also shows the human touch of rowdies during those days.

I recommend people to watch this movie only if you are interested in seeing offbeat cinemas.

School days – Golden Era

Today I am getting nostalgic about my school days, when ever you think of school; you would always end up thinking of teachers & friends.
If I go back in time I remember Sukumbha teacher who taught me in UKG. And I remember having only one friend those days and I was not a very studious student in class those days.
Some how, I got pushed to 1st std. I don’t remember the teacher’s name but she was very strict I was really scared about her; I think this could be one of the reasons that I do not remember her. Again I was very week in studies hardly got any marks in tests and exams. I don’t know how I moved to 2nd.

Moved to 2nd, I remember me crying on first day to entire into the school. Indrani was our class teacher I was in B section. Indrani was very strict and my memory is still fresh with her beating on my hands. I am grateful to her, she changed me totally. I suddenly started studying. I used to complete my home work on time. I started improving my rank. I moved to 3rd.
I was in 3rd, poornima teacher handled our class, she was cool as cucumber, never punished any body.
In 4th, Indira priyadarshini handled our class. Even she was very good. Many kids loved her including me. She was very good.

I was really happy to move from primary to middle schooling just because I could start using Pen.
(We were allowed to use only pencil in 4th and below, now a days nursery kids use pen from day one.)
In 5th, there was reshuffle among all the sections, I was in B section. After reshuffle, I remained in B, but there was many people from A, C & D section. Again I knew only couple of people in my class. Shilaja Raghavan Teacher handled our class and she was not strict. By this time my rank in class has come down because there was no strict teacher to mend me after 2nd std.

In 5th I had very good friend Pramod (we are still friends and we met every weekend), we studied together from 2nd. But we got closer in 3rd and again regrouped in 5th.

In 6th, Gayathri Jayaram handled our class; she was very strict and valued only intelligent students. Pramod being the topper and I always with him got some recognition sometimes.
Till 5th, I was most decent guy and I loved to play and be with friends. In 6th due to some bad company I started to know things which I am not supposed to know.
But I studied well in 6th and passed with good percentage. I remember moving to new building of our school campus in 6th. In 6th I was good at extra circular activities; I was bold enough to sing songs to entire class (off course I was not rhythmic those days, which I realized after long time)

In 7th, Gayathri A.N. handled our class; she was awesome to look at, highly religious. She used to make us recite Bhagvath Geeta for 30 minutes every day. For some reason she was not married.
She used to visit Ramakrishna ashram regularly. Again in 7th there was minor reshuffle, our class strength had increased because some students joined our class for language change.

I moved to 8th, I was very eager to move to high school because we were allowed to where pants
In 8th again there was major reshuffle; most of my friends were in my class I got to meet some more good friends. Our class was over crowed just because most of the student wanted Sanskrit as there first language, off course including me.
In 8th we had one teacher who handled just for 6 months then we did not have class teacher at all. Sorry I don’t remember her.
In 9th, we had very soft math teacher, Shakuntala goipnath. She did not dare to scold anybody. She did not teach us math that well also. Still with my own interest i studied maths and got good marks. Most of my class mates got pass class in maths.
In 10th, Anuradha Ramesh, handled our class, she was good but taught us outside syllabus which did not help many students in public exam. In 10th I put all my efforts and passed the public exam with got percentage and got into college to end my schooling days.

Apart from my class teachers there were other subject teachers who I must remember like, Parvathi AN(English), Bhatt Sir (Math & Science), Noor Salma(Science), Nalini(Social Studies), Gangabalachandra(Biology), Hema Nayaran(Our Principal, taught English), Vishnu Bhatt Sir(Sanskrit),GK Kamath(Sanskrit), Physical Traning Sir(Nick named Blunder Bore), and others

NANO - Tip of Iceberg

Nano was launched on pragati maidan by Ratan Tata, lots of people were very eager to see the rupees one-lakh car ($2500). Ratan tata said a promise is a promise and told to the news conference that the car would cost only one lakh rupees(ex-showroom price).
Many people have different points of view that one lakh car would create lot of traffic and there will no parking space in malls, streets and others are worried about pollution, Tata’s competitors are worried about there car market shares, etc.

My frank opinion on above issues would be,
Traffic jams, parking space constraints, pollution etc is bound to happen whether you have one lakh car or not. In growing Indian economy, more and more people are able own cars. Year after year the car sales target is reaching higher limits.Don’t you think in all metros we are already having huge traffic jams? One lakh car will simply replace all 2 wheelers and autos with Tata’s Nano. What’s wrong in it? I feel we can have better patterns and good traffic management if we have only cars on street, rather than having crazy two wheelers or dangerous Autos on streets.

If you take number of fatal accidents happening in any metros majority of them are caused because of two wheelers, Autos, Buses and Lorries. Cars do have accidents but most often it ends up with minor injuries to the drivers and people inside the car. So I definitely recommend Tata’s Nano to Indian street when it comes to the safety of the people who drive in Indian streets.If you are talking about the Parking space, most of the malls, complex have converted the parking space into commercial areas why can’t government stop these illegal encroachments.

From early days of Independent India till the end of 20th century common man could not dream of having a car, telephone or any other basic necessities. He always dreamt of it. All the luxury items were possessed by the rich Indian families.
After the globalization and software boom some middle class people who live in metros are able to afford car, phone, computers, and flat etc. Telecom revolution has bridged the gap between rich and the poorer India, now any body in India can own a mobile starting from vegetable vendor to the rich business man.

Now I feel automobile revolution is started and Tata’s Nano is just tip of the iceberg. It will be interesting to see how other automobile manufactures like Maruti- Suzuki, Hyundai, Toyota, and Honda would react to Nano. Watch out two wheelers and three wheelers space also it gets more interesting.

I would finally like to say, to all the Rich Indian people, who owned all the luxuries earlier and looked down on middle and poor class.

I was not writing blogs recently because I was little busy with different things like family, work and others stuff.
I was watching cricket after long time India Vs Australia, 2nd Test match held at Sydney. It was unfortunate that India lost the test match. If our players had batted for another 1 over and 1 balls we would have drawn the match with Aussies.
After the test match was over. Every news channels, commentators, BCCI, Ex Cricket Players and Indian public were complaining about the poor quality of umpiring in the test match. And some said if umpires were fair enough then India would have won the test match.

In my thoughts I would say, it is actually wrong on people to complain/criticize the decisions of the umpires. I would like to ask below questions to people who complain about the umpires in this test match.

1) Assume if the decision had gone against Australia and favored Indians, what the media, commentators and other would have said. I am sure they would shower all praises to the Indian team and never considered umpires decision.

2) Commentators, media etc are blaming the Steve Buckner for poor umpiring decision. I would like tell the same people to recollect the Hero Cup which was played in India(not sure when, probably in 1998) was won by India only because of Steve Bucker, that time people wanted him and every body rejoiced now when decisions are going against you, you blame the same guy.

3) Now coming to decisions itself, I saw all the replays of decisions which went against India, actually most of them were so close that any umpire would have made mistakes because it was like slightest nick or hairline difference between bat and pad and many more. If you are complaining for these things, then I would say you are asking extra from the umpires.

4) To be very frank, India team is not capable or used to win matches without extra assistance from umpires. Just to avoid the people’s anger, BCCI and commentators are blaming the umpiring decision. I would like to mention one important point which lot of people missed out. Australians were 136 for 6 and then Symonds got an advantage due to 3rd umpiring decision and he survived team score was some where near 160. After this Indian blowers, did not blow well at all, they did not put pressure on Australians. Aussies scored freely and made 360 for 7!!! And then 460. Why people do not question this?
Most often Indian players do not finish of things. When ever it comes to run chasing or when it comes to bowling out the tail lenders.

5) Finally I would ask people to watch the matches played in India against different teams and particularly watch the umpiring decisions given by our own Indian umpires. You will at least find 2 to 3 crucial decisions which are given in favor of India.

Now I would like to conclude , before blaming anybody first clean up your home and then talk about others, if you are not correct or perfect then you do not have any right to blame others.

Independent India of Sixty Years

India is now sixty years old after getting freedom. We were totally suppressed nearly for 1000 years staring from Mughal rulers to British. India was totally scared of external countries and had adopted popular swadeshi concept and encouraged local people to manufacture goods, grow crops and imposed heavy taxation for those who imported goods from foreign countries.
This concept worked well till 70s and people were self sufficient. But we lacked quality good only because of technological backwardness.
But in eighties License Raj started and people favoring government were only given licenses startup any production unit or to expand the same. This move was totally ridiculous and it cut down competition and monopoly began and ultimately common man suffered to the max.
In early nineties India was totally bankrupt all money was with politicians, bureaucrats, government servants and others. India was not at all growing and this forced the FM of India in 1992 to open up the market and allow foreign investments in India. This changed India significantly and today in 2007 India has indeed become emerging market and also got the status as transforming country.
I feel still India needs to improve a lot and grow more to become developed nation.

There is something special to India which I would like to list alphabetically

A – Auto, Only in India and some parts of Asia pacific region you will find this 3 wheeler. These drivers actually come from different planet and they don't know what are the traffic rules.
A also refers to astrology, every citizen on India strongly believe in astrology, all ceremonies and festivals are conducted based upon astrological inputs.

B – Bollywood, Most of Indians cannot leave without Bollywood. Still for Indians the only pastime is to watch Bollywood movies.
B also means Black Money, Indians have maximum black money. We generate it every day, I do not know, when can we get out of this?.

C – Cricket, Cricket is only sport which every Indian love to watch, in spite all those match fixing , BBCI scandalous. People love to bet on players, match and many things. Cricket betting itself is Multi Million industry.
C also means Corruption, Common man of india is fully corrupt due to environment, and India has lost the trust, loyalty and honesty which was there before independence. Many people indulge in politicking, back stabbing, minority appeasement and many more.

D – Dowry, No matter even if India becomes developed nation, you are sure to see dowry deaths happening in India. How much ever a person is educated in India, he loves to take dowry. More the educated you are more the dowry money you take. Now people are offered or demand for various stuff like cash, car, job, sites, house and many more.

E – Extravagance – Indians by nature love extravagance, be it festival, marriage ceremony, politician party meeting or any event we make it so extravagant, that whole purpose of the actual event gets defeated.

F – Fireworks – Indians love fire works, be it any ceremony, starting from birth (male kid) to death, you name it. We have fire works ready. You are sure to see fireworks if India wins a cricket match or when a political party wins the election.

G – Gold – Indians love gold. In most of festivals people buy gold. India’s economy and rupee value is based upon gold which we hold.
G also means God, Indians worship gods so much, which is beyond once imagination. You will find gods every where in India. Be it middle of National Highway! Or in mids of huge slums or under High Tension Line you will see various gods.

H – Honking, Every Indian is taught to honk first before learning any vehicle. Even people demand drivers to Honk. Until and unless you don’t honk people don’t budge. You will find various kinds of honking patters in India like sounds to Dogs, Cats screaming etc. Some drivers also over do it they simply honk when entire traffic is at stand still or even when they are driving on a clear road.
H also means Head Shake; All Indians have standard protocol of shaking his head side ways when ever he wants to acknowledge something. This creates confusion when ever indians interact with westerners.

IT – IT, after the globalization India is mainly recognized only because of IT and IT has created a good brand image across the globe.
I also mean IIT, India is also recognized for it intelligence in foreign land mainly due to IITians who have migrated from India.

J - Jinx, Many Indians believe in superstition and have Jinx. There are many superstitions like do not go forward if a black cat crosses you. Three people must not go for any good work. Do not go for good work during Rhavu Kala etc.

K – Kashmir, even after 60 years of independence, India is still suffering with Kashmir issue. I feel we continue to do so because there is no political will to solve this.

L – Littering, Indians love to litter all public places. If you go inside any house of India you will be surprised to see their homes so clean, but the same person when he come out then loves to litter all public places.
L also means Languages, Indians have maximum number of languages when compared to any other country. Along with this when have many versions of languages like Hinglish, Tamlish, Telaglish and many more.

M – Money, Every Indian loves money. Indians take lot of decision based on money constraints. I do not deny other people in world also give more importance to money. But Indians give totally a different angle to it and more often you see them overdoing it.

N – Noise, Every Indian believes Noise created by him/her is fun & music. We do not care about others at all. Be in any ceremony, we love to run loudspeakers till midnight without thinking about others.

O – Over-Loading, Indians try to overload everything staring from bi-cycle, scooter, car, bus, lorry, class rooms, Cinema halls, Parks, malls etc. we love to overload. This we call it as efficient usage.

P – Plagiarism, Every Indian likes do copy and paste and do not acknowledge that he has copied. Even in IT, People copy codes freely, most of them have pirated softwares and MP3.
We give a dam to copyrights. Most of PhDs of India have written their thesis purely by copying from others.
P also means Political Parties, Indians have maximum number of political parties and we are creating more and more year after year.
P also means Population, India has maximum number of people; I think we have surpassed china also. If not we will do soon.

Q – Queue, if any body out there is thinking of instant service, forget about it in India. You simply cannot get it we have so many people out their, invariably for any simple service one has to undergo huge queues.
Q also means Quantity, Indians love quantity over quality. Once my friend did not agree to come to English movie just because it was for one and half hours, where as any Indian movie was for three hours.

R – Rumor, Indians love to create rumors, Indians creates rumors on fly like
1) Idol of Lord Ganesha can drink milk!!,
2) Hoax bomb calls in malls and companies etc.

S – Serials, Indian men & women love T.V serials so much that they can sacrifice any thing for it. Most of the serials are based on same theme and every serials run for years.

T - Tiffin Boxes, Only in India you will find Tiffin box business. Mumbai dabba-whalas just carry boxes from home to office and back. They do it so efficiently, that they have attained six sigma level and even Harvard business school have studied this process.

U – Unpunctual, Indian are most unpunctual in the world, nobody out there follow any timings. Going late to any function, party is considered pride. All trains, bus, aircrafts land late than scheduled.

V – Veda, Main foundation of Hindu religion stands on Vedas. Every aspects of our culture, caste, religion is based on Vedas
V also means Vastu, Vastu is the old method of India which give rules to construct buildings and houses. I heard recently in local news channel that WTC (World Trade Center, USA) builders have consulted Vastu experts for suggestion.

W – Wedding, Indian weddings are full of extravagance, some wedding have more than 100 dishes served and some wedding go on for weeks. Most extravagance wedding in India, which I can think is the wedding of Jailalitha’s adopted son’s marriage.

X – Xerox, Every nook and corner of Indian cities are filled with Xerox center. People put board as Xerox center even though they have Copiers manufactured by other company (Xerox is the brand name of Xerox Corporation.)

Y – Yoga, Yoga is type of mediation, relaxation technique which keeps ones body fit and active. It was found in india and is very popular among foreigners. Lot of flavors of Yoga has come out now a days like Siddi Samadhi Yoga, Art of Leaving etc.

Z – Zero tolerance, Indians have least tolerance for anything. First thing we do is shout, harass, molest and assault. Lot of conflicts which happen on streets of india will be for simple or for silly reason.

In my first semester of B.E, in my First Class of mathematics, our professor asked one question to entire class why you people joined Engineering. Lot of people gave different answers, some said they always wanted to become engineer, some said there parents wanted them to join that course and others said something else. But our professor was not convinced; he kept on asking for more and then finally told you all have joined engineering to make Money.

It is around 12 years now I realize how true he was. I had just ignored that incident.

I would like to tell you people why I feel, it is very much true in current world. If look at Bangalore for example, people earn huge pay checks and you will also find people who do low end jobs as well. Similarly if you visit any district, town or a village, you will find similar range of people doing different jobs. What is that actual difference of working in a district or in a metro city?

If you thinking on these lines, for similar kind of job people get paid high salaries in metro when compared to other smaller city. Why is this so? what drives the salaries of different people. I know it is demand and supply ratio which eventually decides the pay checks. But why is demand more in metros and not in smaller cities.

Again the answer to this would be, you create a demand in one particular location and start minting money. It is same funda of people blocking all the stocks of rice, cement, etc and creating the demand in the market.

Now let’s focus on the concept of leading one’s life when it comes to metros and other smaller cities. If you ask any youngster, the question, where do you like to live? He would immediately say I would like stay near some huge mall with all the shopping, food joint, movie hall and light night party happening place. He is not bothered about the distance between the workplace and the home where he stays, he ready to travel for 30 to 40 Kilometers daily with all the traffic Jams and pollution around. If you look at earnings versus the spending ratio in metros it will be very low when you compare the same with other smaller city.

A person in metro if he earns a salary of 30 thousand then he will be spending around 25 thousand for all his expenses. Similarly a person in smaller city will earn a salary of 10 thousand and hardly spends 2 thousand for all his expenses. Now tell me who is leading comfortable life.

It is all in the ones perception of an individual, what he personally feels about Comfortable life.

My understanding would be to live where ever you like but only criterion is the quality of life which you lead. It could be at workplace, at home or anyplace you go often.

Some people in India are so mad about go abroad, they are willing to do anything at any cost to go through and some continue to stay in spite of any amount of difficulties they face in terms of Job, work, climate and lot of things. I would say it is the perception in life is that he feels comfortable stay away from his know people or country. Similarly some people would not choose to go away from there native place and feel comfortable as long they stay there.

Software profession

Hi all,
I was not blogging for more than 3 months coz i was busy with my work and did not find a computer to put my thoughts.
Coming to my Topic, “Software profession". I would like ask one question to all those highly talented/intelligent people out there in software profession.
Can super Intelligent with excellent academic track record opt Software profession as a career?
I would say in today's world, he should actually not opt it, coz he will finally end up in mid of all those under achievers, no brainers and dummies. And that highly talented guy would get faded away by accepting easier challenges throughout his career.

Look earlier there was no calculators at all and all those NO Brainers would go to intellectuals any calculations, but now things are different, even a corner shop vendor has a calculator which enables him to calculate at finger tips. And the value for those individual who used to do calculations with his finger tips has lost all importance.

So that smart guy decided to pick up a bigger challenge and invented a computer and also programmed in C, C++ and UNIX. Wrote compliers, Editors, Operating Systems and also created complex products.
All those under achievers in s/w industry are now working on different applications like development/enhancements, Testing, Coding, Support etc.
If you want above jobs compared to the calculator then it would be like creating a sine graph for a NO Brainer with the help of scientific function in the calculator.

Do you really want to do it? I am sure most of super intelligent people out there would say NO. But the driving factor in all our lives is the Money It would take higher precedence many times.
I feel sorry for those guys who are really smart out there doing all that crap work.
My suggestion to those people would be.
1. Make right decision before you enter into any industry
2. Set your expectations and plan you career accordingly
3. Always look out for more challenging work

Hi all, do you all know who is the best designer in the world currently?
It is Jonathan Ive...
He has made several designs for Apple Products, Starting from iMac, iBook, iPod & now the recent one iPhone. Don’t you feel all these products are of world class.
Take iMac it was the first to bring PC with different colors. iBook is the thinnest in the world and I need not have to say anything about iPods & its success and finally iPhone, it is the only phone which has single button (Home button) rest all is context sensitive touch screen facility.
Do you all feel like saluting this great designer who has given us these kind of superb products consistently.
Jonathan Ive is an industrial designer who is senior vice president for design team at Apple Inc.
He is very simple man & he is best at lateral thinking. Ive was raised in Chingford, East London by his silversmith father and studied industrial design at Newcastle Polytechnic. After a short time at a London design agency, Ive immigrated to America in 1992 to pursue his career at Apple.He gained his current job title upon the return of Steve Jobs in 1997, and since then has headed the industrial design team responsible for most of the company's hardware products.

Cauvery Issue...

Cauvery Issue…. we all know that there is constant fight for water between Karnataka & TamilNadu from as early as 1915. But why we have this fight? Can we not think of a innovative solution for this. Is it impossible to do? What is the reason behind all this? If you make a close look into all this, one can blame the politicians who have used this issue for gaining the vote bank. We can equally blame people also because they don’t use water without much wastage. One can see leakages in pipes, tapes, lakes, canals etc. Farmers tend to use extra water for there crops in spite of advices provided by various agriculturists. If you see particularly the framers of TamilNadu & Karnataka, all of them are very much interested in growing sugarcane crop then any other crop. This is because sugarcane is a cash crop & they can get more money compared to other crop. One should know amount of water consumption for sugarcane crop is one of the highest when compared to other crops.
Note: Sugarcane is also used to prepare home made illicit liquors. I don’t have statistics about how much percentage of these crops are used in preparing liquors.

Bangalore & Chennai are fast growing cities which require large quantity of water as we know urban population is growing at very rapid pace. Both these cities totally depend of Cauvery water.
If one talks to any kannadiga guy about Cauvery, he would say, why should Karnataka share water with TamilNadu, all the Cauvery water is obtained from regions of Karnataka starting from Coorg to Mysore? Just because some 10% to 15% of water reaches Arabian Sea which is there in Chennai why should we give out 50% of water to them? Is it fair of anybody’s part to do this?
Similarly, if you talk to any Tamilian guy he would say water is a natural resource and it must be given to them and they want as much water as they can get.

But my question to TamilNadu people is, you people show lot of pride in yourself when any question comes on your state & language. You simple hate other languages and states. But now why are not showing the same pride when it comes to cauvery water. Can’t you guys make an alternate arrangement?

Finally coming to solutions of the above water problem issues, I see this problem in different terms,

1) Is water getting utilized effectively, is there any wastages, then we need to address this first.
2) I would suggest going for interlinking all Indian rivers. But interlinking rivers will be Herculean task if you try to do it through canals and channels.
So I would propose to do the same through large Pipes, when we bring oil from Iran to India through pipes why not link all rivers through pipes.
3) I would suggest bringing in a privatization in water distribution for both states. As of now I can think of these solutions.
Solutions are many, implementation of the same is not happening because there is no political will. Once we get out of all this things I guess we will be able to get an amicable solution for both the states.

BLACK Money

Do you know how much of black money is there in India? I am sure, we all know it must be very huge money, It is around 2 Lakh Core Rupees!!!!
Now next big question will be how to get back them, I mean how to make them white, can we really do it.
One option can be by asking the people to return all the black money to government & get no punishment/penalty. This scheme can get around 5% of black money to be converted to white. Even if you try to do raids, searching, freezing bank accounts might lead to another 5%. To get back rest 90 percent, it is very difficult because, corrupt people are not going to bend for these simple steps. So what could be other best option? Can we to do a tit for tat for these corrupt people. Yes it is possible.

People keep most of the black money in denominations 500/- and 1000/- in their houses, lockers & other places. So RBI can freeze all 500 & 1000 denomination notes. And allow the exchange of notes to only those people who can give income tax details for the money kept with them. By doing this we can, freeze all black money with people. US President Nixon had freezed all 100 dollar bills in 1969 to overcome the mafia problem in USA.

But most of the Indian corrupt politicians; bureaucrats are keeping all their money in overseas bank like Swiss banks, Middle East banks and other safe countries.
How can you get back all those money back, solution to this will be very critical, I will leave it to my blog readers imagination. Do suggest me some options if you have any.

Perfect Planning.

Booming, emerging market, India shining, place to invest, feel good factor and all other sophisticated phrases about India makes you feel proud and make you bullish about future. But a million dollar question will be, can we have adequate infrastructure to support this. Do we have any plan in place? Or are we thinking of having a plan for future.

I always tinker around with this question, why we Indians are very bad in planning. I would say, starting from politicians to software companies all stand at same level when it comes to planning.

Take Bangalore of instance, we do not have any plan to accommodate some many people, companies & market. we just have is name sake planning and all development is done for eye wash and for personal gains

Similarly take any software company, people are hired first without any planning. Once a new entrant is into the company they need to wait at least for 1 week to get there seating location and for computers. further developers do coding first and then prepare design documents, test cases and other documents later. Manager will ask the status report only when there is major issue. Other wise he is least bothered about the activity happening. Why we always put the carts in front of cows?
I have seen many people blaming all people around them. My question for them would be, do they have any personal planning and scheduling for themselves. Will they do all their things at proper time? Will they follow strict rules with proper time management?

Assume somebody is doing all his planning properly. He will not be able to accomplish this to fullest because the world around him is not proper. One person’s planning will be effective only when the entire system around him is properly planned. And all his planning will be perfect only when he does not get random, ad-hoc tasks at eleventh hour.

In India I feel we have every thing with poor planning and as a result of which various other plans which are dependent on the surrounding environment is bound to fail.

One of the solutions for the above problem would be , to plan all individual tasks activities by every individual at every level. Even at personal, professional life.
This drive would make we all people to lead better lives in future.

IIM Server CRASH

Today I was going through the news paper and I found IIMK website crashed because of large number of server hits were made through browser clients.
This made me think, why our designing of any system does not take into the consideration of size and complexity. We just look into the functionality of the application and ensure it works for it. We never test the system for large number of request.
I have noticed it, in lot of occasions.Whether it is state board exam result or any competitive exam result.

For the above case we could have designed the IIMK result page in such as way that the website
would
1. Take application number, date of birth, email id and other details and sends the results to the provided email. This would have prevented the server from crashing at least.
2. Appropriate hardware enhancement could have been made; IBM has come up with on demand server enhancement concept where you can enhance the server based upon the application usage.
3. List of logged user could have been checked and further user could be redirected to different link.
4. Instead of storing all the results in database we can create so many list of static HTML pages so that we can quickly display the results. (1.5 Lakh Pages of html will take around 10 MB of serve space).
5. Appropriate spam blockers could have been used in the server environment.

I am sure we can have many methods to ensure that we won’t crash the server due to large hits.
I hope at least IIM will try to fix this problem in future.

I wish all my blog readers a very Happy New Year, Let the year 2007 bring in all the success and happiness to you all.
This year I felt the New Year celebration in Bangalore was more colorful and I could see more people on streets compared to last year.
I received many SMS, with messages saying that the network will be jammed on 31st December. But in fact our service providers were all set for more traffic for 31st December. They could manage it.
I guess Airtel, BSNL, HTUCH, Spice, Reliance, TATA & other mobile/Telephone service providers made good money on this New Year occasion. It is estimated around 1 Billion rupees!!!.
This reminds me the Hutchison-Essar deal; it is estimated to be around 17 to 18 billion dollars. So if you make right calculations, 10 such New Year occasions will make the company go past break even and make more profits.

Corner Shop Retailer

I was reading few articles in news paper, about Indian retail market.Now many huge players are coming into Indian market for retailing. Reliance, Bharti and others are entering into Joint Ventures for retail market.
We might soon see Wal-Mart, Carrefour, and Concord etc in India.I was thinking, why our corner shop retailer does not go for expansion? Even after being in the market for so long.

I feel below points could be few reason for this.
1. No Risk taking ability.
2. He must be continuing his father's or Grand Father's shop setup by them.
3. He feels he cannot manage many things like work pressure, man power, profits & losses
4.He does not want to move out of the comfort zone.
5. Likes to grow in bits and pieces, so that he would have more control.
6. All his profit margins are based upon illegal retailing; he does not give any bills or maintains any good accounting practice.
7. His practice of business is purely based upon person to person relationship. He does not have any defined process, when handling customers, suppliers etc.
8. No innovation in his business model.

What he needs do to expand his business?
1. Start practicing good accounting rules, even if it a cost to his business. And demand the same from suppliers and other retailers.
2. Make more investment based upon the customer needs. We all know all retailers make profit based upon volumes which they sell.
3. Create a brand value.
4. Bring in more innovation.

I am currently reading the book, “High Performance Entrepreneur” by Subroto Bagchi. I really liked this book. It is written beautifully with lot of real life examples. I recommend this book if anybody out there dream about starting a company of there own.
The author tells starting a company is not a child’s play. One must be really committed, dedicated towards it and once the decision taken there is no chance of taking your foot backwards. Entrepreneurs don’t fear failures, they know only to run the company themselves and they do it at any cost.
Subroto quotes nice examples in the book like; the first product of Sony was wooden rice cooker which was a failure product in the market. But still the Akio Morita the founder of Sony did not fear that and went to give us world class products.
Once IBM was bankrupted because of recession in 1917, No bank was willing to buy the computing device which IBM had created. Watson Senior's wife once met here friend who was librarian and she told , she wanted those computing device as she was finding it difficult to organize books. Then IBM was saved because they sold some of the devices to her. This made Watson realize that he must focus on larger issues like making devices for multipurpose use against making a product for one single Bank or vertical.
The author gives lot of insight on how Gopinath (CEO of Deccan Airways), Kiran ShawMazumdar (Bicon CEO), Siddhartha (Coffee Day),Ashok Soot(Mind tree) were able to succeed in there individual ventures.
He explains in depth, how to start a venture, what should be the necessary requirement & how you can achieve success. He also cautions about the various aspect of building company from scratch.

I feel this much of information on the book is sufficient, I would not like to spill all the beans.

DOOMED

I had been to DOOM2 movie yestarday with my team mates.we had good time watching one of the worst movies of all time.
why our people have that fetish about all those filmi stuns, how can we accept it??.
when we entered the movie hall i could hardly see anybody inside,it was full of empty seats.
during the course of movie only our team was the cheerleaders for Hritik & ASH

The first stun of Hritik in the movie was so artificial,Director must not have allowed hritik to do it himself. I was not surprised to see ASH doing all illogical movies starting from her first hindi film "Aur Pyar Hogaya".Now i am totally convinced that all good looking girls have to be dumb..no second thoughts about it.
I was thinking DOOM2 will be a decent movie as it was of "Yash Chopra's Banner".But in this movie they have got it all wrong,right from story to climax.
My suggestion to any director will be, most audience will accept certain amount of illogical shots in the movie, only if there is strong story to back it up.

Why our major metro cities in India lacking in infrastructure.You take cities like Delhi, Bombay, Chennai, Kolkatta, Bangalore, Pune or any other city of IndiaWhy it is struggling to cope up with growing population.Where are we going wrong? What is the problem?

I was thinking on this and I feel the problem lies with all.
First we can put all the blame on politicians. But still can we put all the blame on just politicians.
What responsibilities does our Bureaucracy have? , what is our judicial system doing?
Why the private player does not take part in town planning? And finally why our common man does not stand out and demand for the needs.
Actually the problem lies with every individual. The attitude is "why should I need to fight for others?" and feeling is “what ever I do it is not going to change.”
Most of our so called Corporate People (Multinational Companies) are just bothered about themselves.

A Company in electronic city just want the Hosur Road to be fixed and similarly A ITPL company want there road to be wide and nice. This attitude won't take us anywhere. Why can't we have a consortium of all multinational companies which would address all issues related to infrastructure? Why our corporate heads give individual statements in press.
Why the big companies which are making millions of dollors Profit, put some amount into the infrastructure development.
We need to get united, and then no government can escapes from our demands. The problem is we all are divided and politicians are enjoying this.

Can we sustain the present economical boom?
Outsourcing of software services started to increase after 2001, that is, after the 2 year period of recession in US.
Before recession software industry was growing at rapid pace which made most of people within the industry to take things for granted. they Assumed that there jobs were like Indian Govt job which would last for ever.
But suddenly things started to change and people started to lose jobs, there skills were of no use. Companies started to pinpoint small things such as dress codes, work timings, appraisals, feedbacks etc.
Some companies adopted different approach like they sent people of long leaves, unpaid leaves, salary cuts etc.
Some companies took totally different approach in a way an intelligent ideas. They had a secret tie up with a dummy company which made calls to present company employees and gave them a really good offer. Once the employee was out of the present company the dummy company would come up with some reason that they cannot hire them because there is no project, or you failed in client interview etc.
And most of the small companies closed there shops.

After all this, software has come a long way it has improved a lot in economical growth is at all time high. But software companies and employees have'nt learnt any lessons from there previous experience.

What kind of work are we really doing?

Is it adding any value to individuals?
Why software companies not entering into Product development?

Why there is no emphasis on local market?

Why should India always depend on those dollars? and
Finally coming to my Topic Can we really sustain the present economical boom?
As far I know present conditions in the market is no good compared to recession time.
Bright Software engineers are doing literally junk work, loads of documentation which I can compare to the Home work done by the 5th grade Kid of any school.
Street Smartness, self boasting, long stay in office (even if you chat entire day) are considered as awesome job.
Most of projects executed are maintenance nowadays. People just do data fix get all awards because he did it in odd working hours.

Ever Changing life in Bangalore

Bangalore is changing its life style,landscape,culture,climate and lots of other facts from past 20 years.
As i remember in my early visit to bangalore in 1983, it was so nice to have a air conditioned climate,full of trees every where.
No traffics at all. you can hardly find Cars running around in center of city.
But Now things has all changed.
Bangalore is going Dogs.
You will not find a Car without a dent.
